Breaking news LOP to be elected by opposition MPs

By :Bwire Jonathan:The crown media East Africa

"MP Richard Lumu (DP, Mityana South) has been granted leave to introduce the Administration of Parliament Bill 2024, which seeks to reform the election process of the Leader of the Opposition (LOP). Currently, the President of the largest opposition party unilaterally appoints the LOP, limiting input from other opposition MPs. The proposed bill aims to empower all opposition MPs to elect their leader, increasing autonomy and independence. If passed, this change could significantly impact Uganda's parliamentary dynamics."
